A pride parade (also known as pride event, pride festival, pride march, or pride protest) is an event celebrating gay, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) social and self-acceptance, achievements, legal rights, and pride. The events sometimes also serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage.

This year, activists and allies will take to the streets (and later NYC’s gay bars) in support of global LGBTQ+ rights at the NYC Pride March on Sunday, June NYC’s iconic Pride March, which began as an march demonstration honoring the Stonewall Riots, has evolved into a powerful global symbol of LGBTQIA+ resilience, unity and activism.

The History of Pride

As we consider this moment in history, we also confront the reality that many of the same challenges persist today.
